Mechanical failure: There is a physical fault with the hard drive, an internal mechanism is broken. The hard disk platters do not rotate properly, or the reader heads performance is not normal when are trying to read the information. The physical reparation a hard drive is a complex and delicate operation, similar to surgery, and can end in disaster if it's not done by a qualified technician.
